OTN Canada Post-Doctoral Fellows: Marianne Marcoux
![]() |
Marianne is interested in the behaviour and conservation of marine mammals. She currently holds a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. Her work with OTN involves using bioacoustics to monitor the endangered beluga population in Cumberland Sound. Toothed whales rely on sound to navigate and forage, thus it is possible to passively monitor their presence and assess when they are feeding using acoustics. She is also investigating the diet of belugas in this region using stable isotopes.
