OTN Canada Network Investigators: Christopher Taggart

Dr. C.T. Taggart is a professor of fisheries oceanography in the Oceanography Department at Dalhousie University. As a principal investigator in many small and large multi-institutional research initiatives, he conducts oceanographic research with undergraduate and graduate students, PDFs, and RAs on physical, biochemical, genetic, ecological, and human influences on growth, reproduction, early life history, recruitment, survival, population structure, and the abundance and distribution of marine organisms and their conservation. His study organisms range from zooplankton and fishes to sea turtles and large whales in systems as small as the Bay of Fundy and as large as the Coral Sea. His OTN research with graduate student Franziska Bröll is focused on capturing high-resolution growth rate in fishes, in the wild, using archival tag technology.
