OTN Canada Network Investigators: Scott Hinch

Dr. Hinch is a fisheries scientist at the University of British Columbia cross-appointed in the Institute for Resources, Environment, and Sustainability (College for Interdisciplinary Studies) and in the Department of Forest Sciences (Faculty of Forestry). He received BSc and MSc degrees from the University of Western Ontario and a PhD from the University of Toronto. Since joining UBC in 1994, he has developed two broad research programs involving the study of: (a) salmon migration energetics, physiology, behaviour, and survival, and (b) land-use impacts on salmonids and their habitat. He collaborates extensively with colleagues studying physiology, biochemistry, and genomics and uses an interdisciplinary approach to tackle pressing issues in conservation and management of Pacific salmonids.
