Summary: The purpose of this symposium is to bring together all students, PDFs, and eligible PIs to present projects and results, discuss research strategies, and focus on integration of the OTN Canada Network and sharing of research tools and programs within and across Arenas. The symposium will feature both scientific presentations (talks and posters) and workshops on data management, technology, animal handling, and analytical tools, as well as the 2nd Social Science Workshop on Oceans Governance.
Please also note that this symposium is one of the features of the start of "Dal Oceans Week" (June 1-8, 2011), which will include the OTN Canada meetings, the launch of the Halifax Marine Research Institute (HMRI) and its symposium, oceans industry and trade shows, evening public lecture series, and the cornerstone event: the "Oceans Gala Dinner" (June 2, 2011), celebrating 40 years of oceans research at Dal, the HMRI, the Canadian Excellence Research Chair in Oceans, OTN, etc. More info on Dal Oceans Week can be found here.

Information for presenters:
Keynote talks are scheduled for 30 minutes and HQP talks are 15 minutes (questions included). All presentations will be uploaded on the OTN Canada computer (Mac). Please make sure you upload your talks before the session starts at 8:30 on June 1st.
Poster board dimensions: Length: 7' 7'', Height 3' 9''. Please, hang your posters just prior to the start of the session and remove them after the poster session.
Meeting venue: All sessions will be held on Dalhousie University Campus (link to Dal campus map). Detailed information on meeting rooms is noted in the agenda.
Registration: No registration fee will be charged to attendees. A list of people registered so far can be found here.
Travel: Travel funding is available for OTN Canada PIs and HQP. Please note that no travel funds can be allocated for DFO participants. OTN Canada Secretariat will distribute the travel reimbursement forms at the meeting for you to submit after your travel.
Lodging: A block of rooms is reserved for PIs at the Atlantica Hotel Halifax (http://www.atlanticahotelhalifax.com/) and at Howe Hall residence on Dalhousie campus for HQPs. Atlantica Hotel Halifax is located at the corner of Quinpool Road and Robie Street, around a 15-20 minute walk from the meeting venue on Dalhousie campus, and Dalhousie Residence is located right on the Dalhousie Campus. Accommodation costs will be paid directly by OTN Canada for up to 4 nights (from May 31st-June 3rd). Breakfast will be provided at the meeting on June 1-3, and lunch will be provided on June 1 and 2.
